Andor , the excellent spy series derived from " Star Wars" on Disney+, focused its second season on a people speaking an imaginary language with French accents. Its creator, Tony Gilroy, inspired by " A French Village," has woven a highly political fiction about resistance to a totalitarian regime.

In a territory occupied by a powerful and brutal foreign force, a few individuals with French accents try to resist by hesitating between diplomacy and violence, while spies and politicians maneuver behind the scenes. If the synopsis of this American fiction reminds you of A French Village , a series about life in a fictional village in the Jura region under German rule from 1940 to 1945, the resemblance is not accidental. The creator of Andor , American screenwriter Tony Gilroy, is a big fan of it and was inspired by it to write this second season, which has just started on Disney+. Nothing surprising, then. Except that his series is part of the Star Wars universe!
